Jewelry & Clay Mask Artist
Drawn to the study of history through the appreciation of art produced through the ages, after graduating from college I decided to create my own art. After working in the jewelry industry, where I studies stones at the Gemological Institute of America, I studied the fabrication and casting of metals at Montclair State University. This led to experimenting with boundaries of ornament, rather than a concentration in precious materials. Painting with watercolors has provided creative freedom; however, clay has allowed me farther experimentation with texture, ornament, meaning, totems, mythology, masks, portraits, and figures. Unlike traditional masks, which hide the face of the wearer, these masks are also faces, using mythological symbols and new symbols of a personal mythology.
