James Crispo
Acrylic and Oil Painting
James is member of OPA (Oil Painters of America) and NOAPS (National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society), a lifetime resident of NJ and a graduate from the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
He has recently transitioned back to the fine arts after a successful career as a Creative Director having owned and worked for several NJ ad agencies. He has developed a broad range of both commissioned and non-commissioned work. James has won awards nationally and internationally for subjects ranging from:
• Portraits (People & Pets)
• Domestic Animals & Wildlife
• Seascapes
• Landscapes
• Bay & Sea Life
• Still Life
• Wood Carvings
Early in his career he sold several commissioned pieces privately, plus exhibited through Dumont & Landis, a New Brunswick based Gallery selling several works to corporations (Johnson & Johnson Corporate, Ethicon Inc., and PSE&G). Ethicon Inc. also commissioned a portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. which they donated to the King foundation in Atlanta, Georgia.
Currently he is working on commissioned wedding portraits between seascapes and will break away to create large wood carvings of fresh and saltwater fish for local shows and national competitions.
Paintings are rendered in a classical style and have transitioned from acrylics in early works to oils in recent years. Themes capture the natural beauty and essence of the subject, be it a personality, nature or the effect of light on form.
Available for commissioned Portraits -corporate, weddings, and pets.
