Calligraphy for Beginners

Typography can express a mood and fulfill a social function while conveying information in a creative and aesthetic manner. In this class, students will learn the basic methods of italic calligraphy, as well as touching on modern calligraphy and flourishes. We will also cover different types of pens, markers and papers which can be used to produce successful calligraphy projects with practice.

Required materials: Basic calligraphy set, which includes a calligraphy pen and at least 3 pen nibs of varying widths, and a bottle of black India ink or Sumi ink. Various papers and a basic alphabet will be provided.
