ARTIST OF THE MONTH
My wish is that my paintings speak to you, perhaps holding you a moment longer, and enticing you to look deeper. The art medium is the ever friendly versatility of acrylic paint. Quite simply, my work engages the love of color, mixing and matching, with pure creativity. Optimistically, I paint for the excitement and emotion to appear on my canvas! The hardest part is knowing when I have completed that process, wondering if I can ‘say’ anything else with one particular stroke of color.
I am a self-taught artist. The Covid-19 pandemic swallowed up our world, and caused us all to pause, ponder and reevaluate many aspects of our lives. The pandemic has given me the most precious gift of all, TIME! I found the silver lining, to evolve in creating my art, and the painting gave back! It gave me a sense of peace in this tumultuous time in our history.
I implement numerous different techniques on gallery wrapped canvas, wood, and furniture. I call my work ‘art therapy’ – this is my journey!
Twenty two years ago, after the death of my beloved father, I painted “THE PATRIARCH” in his memory. This FIRST painting hangs in our home and remains my comfort and guide. My Dad was my greatest teacher. Due to his love, inspiration, and memory, he continues to be…..in so many ways.
I graduated with an Associate in Arts degree from Brookdale Community College in Lincroft NJ. My 25 year current career is a NJ licensed real estate agent, with Better Homes & Gardens, Murphy & Co. Red Bank. I live in West Long Branch with my husband and constant support, Rick, and our little dog, Ziggy. I have grown kids and a large fabulous extended family who have inspired me at every turn!
In closing, I must add that a part of me does not want to let these paintings go, for fear I cannot see them again. But I know I must, so I can continue to create. It’s a push and a pull….it’s funny how that happens. I WANT to share them, but then I selfishly want to keep them. I’m sure this is a common feeling among my fellow artists. Our art is a piece of our heart and soul. Given this opportunity, I am thrilled to be sharing my artwork in the local community and beyond!
